The client was looking for a fresh perspective on their office furniture for their upcoming Flagship site in London Docklands with sustainability and quality at the forefront of the specification.

After conducting research on behalf of the client across various furniture manufacturers in the UK, we were able to present a solution that took into account factors such as cost, recycled materials, recyclability, and overall quality to give them a genuinely sustainable solution.

The solution

The main atrium space is an impressive entrance for visitors, where guests can be welcomed in winter nights with a warm glow from the acoustic leaf lamp trees. The design of this areas has lots of biophilia including a huge self-watering 5m living plant wall tower which converts C02 into oxygen and brings the space to life.

As visitors arrive, they can sign in at a bespoke made desk which is made form reclaimed timber and the hard surface top is made from 100% recycled polystyrene.

There are various biophilic features across the site including living plant walls, preserved plant ceiling grid and preserved real moss walls adding colour and nature to the workspace. No plastic plants in sight!

The wellbeing room features a beautiful woodland wall graphic, with bean bags also made and filled with repurposed plastic waste.

All upholstered items such as operator chairs, meeting chairs and sofas have been upholstered in fabric that are made from plastic waste recovered from our Oceans.

The breakout area chairs are a new product made from 50% post-consumer waste and 50% post-industrial plastic waste, are study and easy clean making them the perfect seat for this space.

The space features various large open plan offices, with bench desking to seating many users, half a dozen meeting rooms with various styles of meeting chairs, each selected for the style of meetings to be held in the space.

The Flooring through the whole site is also some of the most sustainable options available including Marmoleum which is made from 98% sustainable raw materials and is biodegradable at end of life.

We communicated this sustainable story with QR codes dotted around the building.

Our favourite element

The star of the show is the VIP meeting space which was designed by ACS Interiors and built by our bespoke joinery manufacturers.

Working with our ACS IT division from the start of the project we were able to make sure the technology and AV solutions in this space worked hand in hand with the interiors.

With the addition of acoustic and wall panelling we were able to enhance the sound quality of the AV whilst also adding to the aesthetics of the room.

The client

“We have recently worked with ACS Interiors across several sites, they have most recently completed our Flagship site in London Docklands. It’s been a really positive experience working with Vicky, Gill, Rebecca and the rest of the team at ACS Interiors.

The communication throughout and project management have been excellent, and they have gone above and beyond to deliver on the initial brief.

They took time to really understand our needs and offered an outstanding range of sustainable options, resolved queries quickly and we’re over the moon with the end result”
